Suspected arm robber was discharged, acquits by court for lack of merit

An Enugu High Court Judge, Justice Afamefula Nwobodo, yesterday discharged and acquitted one George Igboke for lack of merit in a case of robbery.

Igboke and others now at large were alleged to have on November 8, 2008, at Plot 9, Market Garden, GRA, Enugu, armed themselves with a gun and machetes to rob three persons of their handsets, football boots valued at N42,000 and N27,000 cash. The victims of the robbery were Nnamdi Eneh, Obiora Agbo and Chike Iheife.

This was even as the state Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr Musa Daura, has urged commercial motorcyclists in the state to be law abiding over the ban on their operation in Enugu metropolis. The commercial motorcyclists were outlawed in three local governments making up the Enugu Capital Territory, ECT, to reduce crime wave in the state.
