THE CRY OF WISDOM-PROVERBS 8:1
Wisdom is as eternal as God Himself. The nature of wisdom
cannot be separated from the nature of God. God is the source of wisdom and
from Him, true wisdom is bestowed upon men.
In Proverbs 8, wisdom again is personified as a woman crying
out in various places. God cannot be faulted when people lack wisdom.
The bible says that the creation verifies the existence of
the Creator. ‘’the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are
clearly seen. God’s unlimited power and His profound omniscience are evidenced by
the things He made.
Although some biblical scholars declare that Christ is the
wisdom described in Proverbs 8, others see wisdom as a virtuous woman stand in
contrast to the strange woman (7:5) of the previous chapter. The latter is a
harlot who appears at every corner (verse 12) to entice men to sin. Wisdom,
likewise stations herself throughout the land, from the most prominent places
of government to the most humble residence; but in contrast, she advises those
who seek the most blessed path of life.
