Husband's Dream of Infidelity Ends Marriage in Shambles

 BY MIRACLE BENSON

A Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Angelo Chidi Unegbu, has shared a cautionary tale about a marriage that ended in divorce due to a dream-induced accusation of infidelity. The priest narrated the story in a Facebook post on Thursday, January 9, highlighting the dangers of relying on dreams and prophecies in relationships.

According to Fr. Unegbu, a man had a dream that his wife was carrying a mattress on her head, which his mother interpreted as a sign of the wife's infidelity. The husband then accused his wife of being unfaithful, leading to persistent fights and conflict in the marriage. Despite the wife's denial of the allegations, the husband's suspicions continued to simmer, ultimately causing the marriage to collapse.

Fr. Unegbu used this incident to warn against building relationships or making marital decisions based on dreams, revelations, or prophecies. He argued that such practices often lead to troubled marriages, as they create a foundation of suspicion and mistrust. The priest emphasized that marriage is a human affair, and that spirits do not marry or organize marriage for humans.

In his Facebook post, Fr. Unegbu wrote: "A young man dreamt about his newly married wife carrying a mattress on her head. In the morning, he narrated his dream to his mom, who told him that the meaning of the dream is that his wife is not faithful. The husband insisted that his wife must confess to him. His wife denied the allegation, but the drama had already begun. The drama led to daily quarrels between the young couple, and today, they are divorced."

Fr. Unegbu's story serves as a reminder that relationships should be built on trust, communication, and mutual respect, rather than on dreams or prophecies. He encouraged couples to have their eyes wide open when choosing a partner and to approach marriage with a realistic understanding of its challenges. As he noted, "There is no easy marriage... Marriage is a human affair. Spirits do not marry or organize marriage for humans."
