Juanfran: It is time to play in the Champions League

The 27-year-old Spanish international has underlined the ambition that surrounds Los Rojiblancos to make it into Europe's elite competition

The side from the capital have begun their Liga campaign well, winning and drawing in their first two league games of this term. And now their right-back, who moved to the Vicente Calderon from Osasuna in 2011, has firmly stated the side's ambitions.
“I believe the time is now. We have to be aware and focussed that this is the year that Atletico Madrid have to be in the Champions League. Clearly La Liga is difficult but Atletico Madrid will be in the top four, of course. Our fans deserve it,” he said to Mundo Deportivo.
Juanfran has reason to be positive, as he alluded to the great atmosphere surrounding Los Rojiblancos.
“We have been having a great last few months at this club. What the players and the management want most is to keep it going,” he explained.
The European Super Cup winners recently beat Chelsea 4-1 to earn some silverware, and one of the main reasons for the recent success, according to Juanfran, is the firepower provided by Radamel Falcao.
“There’s not much I can say about El Tigre, apart from the fact he is a great player. Each day he is more and more impressive, which is natural because he is playing one of the most important roles for Atletico.”
