The
pattern of the revival rain in the time of Elijah is the same as that of
natural rain. First, the sky grew dark with clouds; there was wind rising and
blowing over the earth; and finally a heavy rain came upon the land to water
it.
The
sky growing dark represents spiritual obscurity and gloom that comes over the
spiritual life of God's children. The wind rising and blowing over the earth
speaks of the wave of the spirit of God that comes with crisis and shaking-
Hagg. 2:6-7, 20-22; Heb. 12:25-29; 1 Pet. 10:17-19. And the heavy rain coming
upon the land to water it speaks of the outpouring of the spirit of God upon
all flesh- Joel 2:28-32; Isa. 32:15-20; 44:1-5.
Also,
as these things happened, it is recorded in 1 Kings 18:46, that as the sky grew
dark with clouds, the wind rising and blowing, and a heavy rain coming on the
earth, king Ahab rode off on his chariot and took off, while the power of the
Lord came upon Elijah, and tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran on foot and
out-ran king Ahab who was running in chariot and got to Jezreel before him.
This is what happens anytime there is a rain of revival; the first becomes the
last and the last becomes the first- Matt. 19:28-30. The power of speed to overtake comes only
from the Lord- Eccl. 9:11; Rom.9:5-16.
The
Lord is now dismantling human organized system; and this divine sledge hammer
is already coming upon churches to dismantle any human system that tries to
oppose kingdom truth and order. This is a non denominational task as it will be
done by the Lord Himself and it will be done in an unconventional and unpopular
manner ever known to men and human standards- Rom. 9:25-33. As prophet Elijah
overtook king Ahab who was riding on a chariot of natural strength, by the
divine strength and speed of God, so many non-entities and inconsequential
humans and sinners will overtake so many Christian leaders and followers of our
time by God's extraordinary visitations. Those who are riding on their swift
chariots, will be overtaken by those who are far behind them. This will be done
''not by power, not by might, but by the spirit of God''- Zech. 4:6.
