Revival
comes as an answer to the heart cry and hear burden of some individuals who
have the need for spiritual renewal and restoration of the backslidden ones
back to God, for their repentance and genuine conversion. Such individuals are
known for their holy, separated and consecrated life to God and the cause of
His kingdom. They are different in their manner of Christian life and attitude
in relation to the things of this world; they are consumed with the zeal of the
house of God.
In
Isaiah 6, it is noted that every true revival brings us face o face with God's
divinity- His holiness, righteousness, power and glory; followed by personal
conviction of sin and moral uncleanness; then cleansing of spiritual and moral
decay or removal of sin and guilt. This
is usually accompanied by penitent weeping back to God through Jesus- Zech.
12;10-14; Joel 2 :12-8.
The
heart piercing voice of God will begin to penetrate the spirit, soul, joints
and marrow, thoughts and attitude.
When
we pray for revival, it should be done with understanding to know what we
expect when it comes. Revival is not all about speaking in tongues and
performing miracles, it is about personal encounter with God's divinity and
attributes of His holiness, righteousness, power and glory that produce genuine
repentance and conversion of souls with flaming zeal to live and walk in God's
righteousness and true holiness- Luke 1:68-75; Eph. 4;20-24.
