The
fire of revival was what Elijah called down from heaven to eat up the sacrifice
and lick the water on the altar of restoration that he had built. This fire
atoned the land and purged idolatrous pollution in the land and brought about
wiping out of four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal by Elijah and also the
wiping out of the remaining four hundred prophets of Baal and other worshippers
of Baal, Ahab, Jezebel and their entire household by Jehu.
This
fire is coming again, especially to us in the new testament- Isa. 33:13-17;
Mal. 3:1-5, and we must be prepared for its coming. It will first descend on
the early church and will come with climax in this end time- Acts 2:1-4.
Jesus
is the baptizer of this fire; and this end-time revival will be characterized
with fear and trembling. This fire will bring judgment among the hypocrites in
the church and cleanse her of all pollutions of sin, worldliness, carnality and
falsehood; and also bring worthy reward to the faithful and lift them to the
position of authority like Elijah.
A
large number of people who consider themselves Christians have never been led
to the Lord. They were only led to the church, to a personality, to a doctrine
or to an emphasis. Some of these will think they are important links in the net
but will actually become part of the harvest, starting over again on the proper
foundation- a relationship with Jesus. This includes a number of well known ministers and pastors.
Their humility in this will lead multitudes to question and strengthen their
own relationships to the Lord. This will go a long way in encouraging the body
of Christ.
Denominations,
extra-local fellowships and circles of emphasis will begin disbanding and
severing their ties, even those that were ordained by God for a season, in
order to be part of this great net. For some, these ties will just be ignored
or forgotten until they have passed away, almost without notice; for others, it
will be a very painful rending as they are persecuted and rejected by those who
do not understand. The pain of these broken relationship will not last long for
those who must endure them; a true church life that has been the desire of Christians
since Pentecost will soon be realized by those have not lost hope.
Some
leaders will actually disband their organizations as they realize they are no
longer relevant to what God is doing.
Others will just leave them behind to disband themselves- 1 Pet. 4:17; 2 Cor.
11:32.
Judgment
is not for condemnation or punishment but to purify the church so that she
would be found standing on a sure foundation when judgment comes upon the
world. This judgment is coming to separate the wheat from the tares in the
church, and in the individuals who remain in the church. There is not one
Christian in the world who will not be humbled to some extent by this revival;
and who will not benefit in becoming more purified in life and intimate with
the Lord.
