THE ALARMING STATE OF THE PRESENT-DAY CHURCH

Image result for THE ALARMING STATE OF THE PRESENT-DAY CHURCH

The church of today is in a non-chalant state; a state where the pastors and their members are non chalant about Christian living and faith. This is very obvious in the kinds of teachings we hear from our pulpits. Almost all the teachings and preaching of today are focused on people's wellbeing and prosperity. Any teaching or preaching that is based only on people's well being and their prosperity and ignores the weightier matters of eternity has missed the mark. This is sinful because sin means missing the mark. Most preachers and teachers of today's churches are continuously committing sin both against God and their hearers by making the things of this world their major emphasis. This makes one to wonder if the coming of Christ to the world, His death and resurrection, and the birth of the Church is just for people to build churches and entertain their members with preaching on their wellbeing that will enable them live a happy life and fulfill their dreams on earth without thinking of heavenly mandate.
This gross error is lamentable that apostle Paul said '' if in this life only we have hope, we are of all men most miserable- 1 Cor. 15:19, Rev. 3:14-22. Any ministry that does not prepare men for God's kingdom has lost its purpose, no matter the size of the ministry. Some many of our churches are filled with members that are on the high way to hell. This is because their pastors tell them what they want to hear and not what God wants them to hear and practicalize. Their pastors are not telling them the truth of the gospel which the cross represents- Phil. 3:17-21.

Preachers of our time are busy telling and showing their members the glory of this world; and the people in turn are bowing down and worshipping the god of mammon  and fashion. This was what the devil wanted Jesus to do but He rebuked him- Matt. 4:1-11. Those who must make it to heaven must channel their affection to the things of heaven, and put all they have before the cross, which is the only way we are called to follow. The cross is the sure way to heaven, any other way is diversionary and misleading- Mk. 8:31-38; Matt. 7:13-14; Lk. 13:22-30.
