The righteous are chosen generation to God- 1 Pet. 2:9. They are chosen by God because they trust in the Lord and obey Him. They are chosen to be royal priesthood; a holy nation, and a peculiar people to Him. The phrase royal priesthood identifies them as priests and kings who stay close to God to minister to Him in praise, worship and prayer; and then stand among men and women to represent Him and uphold the principles of His kingdom to them- Rev. 1:4-6. The second ‘’holy nation’’ identifies this generation to be set apart by God to belong to Him alone and to be different from all others in manner of living and work. And the third phrase ‘’a peculiar people’’ identifies this generation as a people belonging exclusively to God, to His service, and to His kingdom forever. The generation of the righteous are contrasted from those of God’s wrath. They are the generation of His mercy who persistently seek His glory, honour and immortality- Rm. 2:5-11. They are the generation the Lord has chosen by His grace to show forth His praise in the world. They are called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light. They bear the light of God to the world of darkness around them- Matt 5:13-16; Eph. 5:7-21. This is the generation upon whom the Lord manifests His glory and power to show the whole creation that He is God and there is none else.

THE GENERATION OF GOD'S MERCY:IT IS CALLED THE CHOSEN GENERATION
