We must respond properly and timely to the yearnings of to God's heart to have us dwelling in His secret place and abiding under His covering wings. Those who refuse to do so will have their houses left unprotected and desolate- Lk. 3: 34-35.
GOD'S WINGS: Naturally speaking, the word ''wings'' refers to the two organs or feathers of a bird or any flying object. In reference to God's dealings with His people, He said in Ex. 19:4 and Deut. 32:11 that He had borne His people Israel on eagle's wings. By this, He had brought them out of Egypt with a strong hand and loving care. An eagle watches over her young in a most careful manner. She flies under them when leading them out from the nest, lest they should fall upon rocks and be destroyed. When God's people are said to mount up with wings as eagles, it refers to their course of life which has the Lord as the object. It speaks of their spiritual experience whereby they mount up into His presence on the wings of the Holy Spirit- Isa. 40:31. Moreover, the shadow of His wings refers to the attribute of God's strong and loving care over His people.
