THE SHADOW OF GOD'S WINGS

GOD'S WINGS- THE PLACE OF COVERING AND SAFETY
The shadow of His wings is a spiritual umbrella for covering and safety;

 The wings of His power: The man who dwells in the secret place (closet of intimacy) of the Most High is said to be abiding under the shadow (caring covering) of the Almighty- Ps. 91:1

 The wings of His love: Love is the whole summary of the nature and attribute of God. The revelation of God declares His love as strongly as His existence- 1 Jn. 4:8. Love is the highest characteristic of God.  His love is directed towards rational being called men. The gracious love of God towards men, even the most sinful men, is strongly declared by His word. The highest disclosure and most complete proof of divine love is demonstrated in redemption. His loving kindness is His desire, enthusiasm or zeal towards His people to bestow His wings of love to save, preserve and provide for His own.

 The wings of His grace: Grace according to Unger's bible dictionary is what God may be free to do, and indeed what He does accordingly for the lost after Christ has died on behalf of them. Grace is His unmerited favour which He bestows towards those who have no merit- Eph. 2:4-5. Since He is righteous and holy, sin is an offense to Him, His love and mercy cannot operate in grace until sufficient satisfaction for sin is provided. It is this satisfaction, which has come through the atonement by the blood of Jesus, that makes the exercise of God's grace possible. God has thus ruled out all human merit. Now, it requires only faith in the saviour for one to be saved. The grace of God has perfected forever those who put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ because of their standing in Him- Rom. 5:1. Moreover, this gracious  bestowal must become actualized in practical experience of those who have received it through daily devotion to God- Rm. 12:1-2.

The wings of His mercy: Mercy is the compassion that moved God to provide for the unsaved. Mercy is a form of love determined by the state or condition of its objects. Mercy is the disposition of love respecting the suffering and needy people; and the kindly ministry of love for their relief. The Lord is very pleased with the exercise of mercy rather than the offering of sacrifices- Hos. 6:6. Indeed, it is because of His mercy that we are not consumed; and His compassion does not fail- Lam. 3:22-23.
