MEMORIALS (1)

CHRISTIAN PENTECOSTAL MISSION INT’
ISAIAH 38: 1-6

1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD,
3 and said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4 And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, 5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.
6 I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.”’

MEMORY VERSE:
“Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord” (Isa. 38:2)

The content of Hezekiah’s prayer was simple and straight to the point. He simply presented his Curriculum Vitae to the Lord and his case was settled. If only the sons of men will come to the understanding that words, actions and thoughts are documents that will stand the test of time both in the now and in eternity, they will be more careful in all they do and say. The ability to remember and recall past events which God deposited in man is a clear proof that God Himself can and does remember.
Scriptures abound with records of individuals who were remembered by God either for good or evil which they had done. The people of Amalek were remembered for their wickedness against the people of Israel when they came out of Egypt on their way to the Promised Land. God assigned Saul to go and utterly destroy them (1 Sam. 15: 1-2).
God remembered Noah and the rest of the animals in the ark after the flood. To give them relieve, He caused a great wind to blow which dried up the land so the ark could land safely on dry land (Gen. 8:1-13). God remembered Rachel and opened her womb so she could conceive and bear children (Gen. 30:22). The question today is: when your chapter is opened before God, what will your record provoke; is it judgment or blessing; mercy or wrath? Think about it. Each day of your life, you have golden opportunities to make memorials that will speak for you in the days to come. Cornelius provoked heaven with prayer, fasting and almsgiving. He became the first gentile to receive the gospel and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Even now, memorials are being written; what are you provoking for yourself?

TURNING POINT:
Each day of your life, you have golden opportunities to make memorials that will speak for you in the days to come.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to leave right legacies on earth!
