The
cross is the symbol of judgment, suffering and death and what follows death is
burial or the grave; then the glorious climax of it all is resurrection which is victory or triumph over death and
the grave- 1 Cor. 15:50-58. Death, burial and resurrection all have both
physical and spiritual dimensions. Jesus Christ went through the physical
pattern of death, burial and resurrection to teach us the nature of Christian life
that we must follow- 1 Pet. 2:21-25.
There
is no other pattern to Christian living except that which is through the cross,
and there is no other kind of faith, preaching or teaching and manner of life
that prepares a believer for heaven except that which bears the image of the
cross. One cannot see Jesus who is the saviour and redeemer without seeing the
cross- Gal.5:4-9; 2 Cor. 3:12-18. Any preaching or teaching that does not
present us to Christ and the pattern of the cross is a false teaching- Matt.
24:3-5; 2 Cor. 11:1-4; Gal. 1:6-10. Therefore, preparing the saints for rapture
is an absolute mandate of God for His children. This begins with the new birth
and takes place in the human spirit; the spiritual rebirth progresses to the human
soul where sanctification is carried out by the spirit of holiness and the knowledge
of the truth- Rom. 15:14-16; Jn. 17:14-19; Tit. 3:5; Eph. 5:26-27.
The
major work of redemption is carried out in the soul which houses the human
mind, will and emotion- Mk.8:34-38; Jn.12:24-26; Rom. 6; 2 Cor. 6:14-17; 1 Cor.
9:24-27; Gal.2:20. Making it to heaven must cost us everything- spirit, soul
and body-Matt. 7:13-14; Lk.13:22-30. This is why only a few will make it to the
end; though the churches are filled with multitudes of professing Christians.
When the soul is undergoing the sanctifying work of the Holy spirit, it must
without compromise reflect in the physical character of the individual- both in
conduct and dressing. One either belongs to the world and its kind of people or
belong to heaven and its kind of people, there is no in-between. The cross
reveals the yardstick for making it to heaven. Those who want to make it to
heaven and rapture must completely yield their spirits, soul and body to the
sanctifying work of the Holy spirit and allow it to be fulfilled in them- Ezek.
36:24-28; 15:1-3; Eph. 5:26-27; 1 Thess. 5:23; Rev. 7:13-14; Rom. 6:11-16.
